How Can I Keep From Singing?

Our Choirs

  • Choir of the Titans is West’s auditioned Advanced Large Mixed Choir. This choir expands upon music theory skills and rehearsal habits learned within non-auditioned choirs. Choir repertoire consists of four-to-eight-part singing. This ensemble performs at the Fall, Spring, and Final Concert, the performing art’s production Winter at West, and multiple off-campus choir festivals and music conferences. Choir of the Titans is the ensemble that represents West Salem High School at the OSAA State Choir Championships. This group is also eligible to participate in West’s yearly choir tour.

  • Soundscape is West’s auditioned Advanced Select Choir. This choir requires high level music theory and ensemble skills. Choir repertoire consists of contemporary a cappella, classical, and jazz arrangements with four to sixteen parts. Singers in this ensemble also learn choreography for their contemporary a cappella pieces. This ensemble performs at the Fall, Spring, and Final Concert, the performing art’s production Winter at West, and multiple off-campus choir festivals and music conferences, as well as private hired events.

  • Atlas is West’s non-auditioned Tenor-Bass, low voiced, choir. In this class, students focus on the foundations of the growing voice, learn and reinforce music theory skills, and develop ensemble habits and professional management. This ensemble performs at the Fall, Spring, and Final Concert, the performing art’s production Winter at West,  and the Salem Keizer Intermediate Choir Festival.

  • Cantare is West’s non-auditioned Soprano-Alto, high voiced, choir. In this class, students focus on the foundations of the growing voice, learn and reinforce music theory skills, and develop ensemble habits and professional management. Choir repertoire consists of two-to-three-part singing. This ensemble performs at the Fall, Spring, and Final Concert, the performing art’s production Winter at West,  and the Salem Keizer Intermediate Choir Festival.

  • Asteria/Dissonance is West’s auditioned Advanced Soprano-Alto Choir or Intermediate Mixed Choir based on the vocal personnel we have for the upcoming school year. This choir expands upon music theory skills and rehearsal habits learned within non-auditioned choirs. Choir repertoire consists of three to four part singing. This ensemble performs at the Fall, Spring, and Final Concert, the performing art’s production Winter at West, and multiple off-campus choir festivals. This group is also eligible to participate in West’s yearly choir tour.
